The sunburts were cut & assembled quite a while ago, then taken to be primered and painted... and I had pretty much forgotten that they were still in the works! Out of sight, out of mind, I guess. The house looked good before, but it really looks great now, as you can see:
They aren't overly ornate or frilly like on a victorian (which wouldn't suit me OR the house at all), but they sure give the house a nice finished look, don't they? What a nice surprise! Now I guess it's back to our regularly-scheduled weekend house cleaning... :0p.s. Look at all that firewood! Cary's been busy this week...

The house looks great! How long did it take (from the "hey, let's build a house" idea to move-in day)?
Well, if you go from the date that I bought the property, it was 4 years (Dec 2002 to Dec 2006). Of course, I bought the property with the plan to build a house already in mind, going back years & years, so it would really be much longer than that. A lifetime, I guess.
The building, on the other hand, took only 6 months; we broke ground for the driveway on June 15 and we moved in on Dec 26th. It feels really, really good, too.

I like those alot. They give your home a very finished and inviting look. Like a Louis L'Amour book or a Charles Russell painting (right next to the Livery Stable)
Breaking ground sounds great Addie! Much better than breaking wind :o)
Do you have pets and have they picked out their spots in the new house? It took ours only a couple days to stake out their spots.
Oh yes, our 3 lazy cats are settling right in. I'll get some pictures up soon...
